This Privacy Policy applies to the LiFi mobile app and all related services. By using LiFi, you agree to the practices described here.

  • Account info — Your name, email address, and login credentials when you sign up. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email, and a unique authentication token from that platform.
  • Voice & speech — When you start a conversation, your voice is captured on your device, converted to text, and sent to AI processing services to power the real-time exchange. This happens only during your active session — your voice audio and the conversation transcript are never stored on our servers after the session ends.
  • Usage data — Basic technical information like your device type, OS version, IP address, app version, and crash reports. This helps us keep LiFi running smoothly.
  • Support messages — If you reach out to us, we keep that conversation so we can help you properly.

2. How We Use It

We use your information to:

  • Run the app and deliver your real-time AI conversation experience
  • Improve LiFi — fix bugs, understand how features are used, build better ones
  • Manage your account and subscription
  • Send you important updates about the service
  • Comply with legal obligations and keep the platform secure

3. How the AI Conversation Feature Works

This is the core of LiFi — and we want you to understand exactly what happens when you talk:

  • Your voice is picked up by your device's microphone
  • It's converted to text and sent to AI service providers (speech recognition, language model, and text-to-speech) that work on our behalf to generate a reply
  • The reply comes back to you as audio
  • When your session ends, all voice and text data is automatically and permanently deleted — we do not keep your conversations

These AI providers act as processors on our behalf. They are contractually bound to handle your data securely and use it only to deliver the service to you — nothing else.

4. Who We Share It With

We don't sell your data. Full stop. We may share it in these specific situations:

  • Service providers — Companies that help us run LiFi — things like cloud hosting, AI model processing, speech recognition, text-to-speech, analytics, and customer support. They only get what they need to do their job, and they're bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal requirements — If required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers — If LiFi is ever acquired or merges with another company, your data may transfer as part of that. We'll notify you if that happens.
  • With your permission — Anything else — only if you've explicitly said yes.

5. AI-Powered Features

LiFi uses artificial intelligence to power its core companion and speaking features. We want to be fully transparent about how this works and who is involved.

To deliver these features, your voice recordings and conversation text are processed by the following providers:

Anthropic
Processes conversation text to generate real-time AI companion responses. Your data is used only to deliver the service and is not retained after your session ends.

Converts AI text responses into natural voice audio for your companion.

These providers act as processors on our behalf. They are contractually bound to handle your data securely, use it only to power LiFi's features, and maintain the same or equivalent level of data protection described in this policy. They do not use your data to train their own models or for any other purpose without your explicit consent.

When you use any AI feature in LiFi, you are giving permission for your data to be processed by these providers as described above.

6. How Long We Keep It

We keep your data only as long as we need to:

  • Conversation data — Deleted automatically when your session ends. No exceptions.
  • Account data — Kept while your account is active. Delete your account and we delete your data.
  • Usage & crash logs — Kept for a limited period for performance and stability purposes, then discarded.
  • Support messages — Retained only as long as needed to resolve your issue.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. You can:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct or delete it
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Ask us to restrict how we process your data
  • Get a portable copy of your data
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

8. Kids & Young Users

LiFi is built for youth language learners, but is not intended for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it immediately.

For users between 13 and the age of majority in their country, we encourage parents and guardians to review this policy together.

9. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data. That said, no system on the internet is 100% bulletproof. If you ever suspect your account has been compromised, contact us right away.

10. International Data

LiFi is based in the United Arab Emirates. Your data may be processed by our service providers in other countries where data protection laws differ from your own. Where that happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards — such as contractual protections — are in place.

11. Updates to This Policy

We may update this policy as LiFi evolves. When we do, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you inside the app. We'll always keep the current version accessible from the app's settings.
